Real Madrid Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois Ruled Out for Six Weeks Due to a Knee Injury

Rabat – Real Madrid CF goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been ruled out for six weeks due to a knee injury.

Courtois has suffered a muscle injury in the rectus femoris of his right quadriceps, which is expected to sideline him for six weeks, according to the club’s medical report.

Real Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper will miss next month’s Champions League quarter-finals against Bayern Munich, leaving the Spanish side with limited options.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in the rectus femoris of his right quadriceps. Awaiting further evaluation,” the club said in a statement.

According to ESPN, Courtois felt discomfort before sustaining the injury during Tuesday’s clash against Manchester City FC, where he was replaced in the second half by substitute goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

Real Madrid are facing mounting fitness concerns, with key players such as Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Éder Militão already struggling with injuries.

The Spanish giants are currently four points behind FC Barcelona at the top of the league, and losing Courtois will be a major setback for head coach Álvaro Arbeloa.
