‘Women In Business’ Holds Conference On Female Economic Empowerment

Casablanca – Women in Business, the first Moroccan independent digital platform dedicated to female entrepreneurship, organized on Wednesday at Barcelo Anfa Hotel in Casablanca a special ftour conference around women’s economic empowerment.

Held under the theme “Rethinking Women’s Economic Power in Morocco: Ambition, Financing, and Values,” the event brought together business leaders, financiers, and advocates for women’s empowerment.

Women In Business promotes women’s initiatives, shares inspiring stories, and provides information, guidance, and events for women running or starting businesses.

The platform aims to showcase the talent and determination of women who have overcome barriers to create, manage, and grow enterprises.

Wednesday’s event is one of the platform’s several programs designed to support, inspire, and connect women entrepreneurs across Morocco.

“The aim of this gathering is reuniting the vision regarding the potential of women entrepreneurs in Morocco, studying successful models outside Morocco, and, more importantly, re-examining the model within our own context for Moroccan women entrepreneurs,” Mountassir Zahraoui, Senior Consultant at MF Strategy told Morocco world News.

“Strengthening these efforts and this vision for women-led businesses should not be limited to one-off meetings. It needs to be supported through financial programs and systems that take into account the specific realities of these businesses,” he added.

    Financial support is not enough

Discussions at Wednesday’s event centered around two panels. The first panel looked at how to rethink women’s economic power in Morocco and overcome barriers such as limited access to financing and decision-making roles.

And the second explored practical solutions, including financial tools, microcredit, responsible investment, and the role of inner leadership in creating lasting impact.

Financing alone is not enough to meaningfully empower women entrepreneurs, speakers highlighted throughout the event, stressing that financial support must go hand in hand with training, mentorship, and networks that allow women to grow, take risks, and create value.

The discussions also acknowledged structural obstacles, social expectations, and safety challenges, showing that real progress requires both systemic change and individual determination.

The event also addressed a key paradox: while Moroccan women are more educated, entrepreneurial, and present in the workforce than ever, they still face structural obstacles such as limited access to financing and underrepresentation in decision-making.

Reflecting these discussions in practice, Omar Naimi, Marketing and Development Director at Fondation Arrawaj, shared with MWN the foundation’s initiatives. “The Rawaj Foundation, during these 30 years, has developed adapted services, financial services for all female micro-entrepreneurs,” he said. “We have recently launched an offer to encourage and support women entrepreneurs through a large package, including both financing and non-financial services.”

Events like Women in Business’s initiative seek to continue highlighting that female empowerment or emancipation still has a long way to travel in Morocco despite notable advances in recent years. As such, their ultimate hope is to gradually turn the empowerment of women in business and other vital sectors into a national urgency and a central pillar at the heart of Morocco’s economic growth.
