MrBeast Tries Moroccan Mint Tea with YouTuber Reda El Wahabi

Fez – A new viral clip has brought together US YouTuber MrBeast and Moroccan content creator Reda El Wahabi over one of Morocco’s best-known symbols of hospitality: a glass of hot, foamy mint tea. The light-hearted “Moroccan tea challenge” blends cultural exchange and YouTube star power for millions of viewers worldwide.

In the short video, El Wahabi welcomes MrBeast to try “proper” Moroccan tea, complete with the traditional high pour that gives the drink its signature froth. True to his challenge-focused style, MrBeast is quickly told this will not be a simple tasting session.

El Wahabi proposes a test: see how high he can raise the teapot while still landing the stream of tea safely in the glass. As MrBeast carefully lifts the pot higher and higher, El Wahabi shouts “Up, up, up!” before abruptly calling “Stop, stop, stop!” when the tea spills.

Once the glasses are filled, El Wahabi stops MrBeast from clinking them together, laughing that Moroccans typically skip the Western “cheers” ritual when drinking atay. Instead, he encourages the American YouTuber to say “atay Maghrebi.” MrBeast chugs the tea, pauses, and then declares the tea “actually really good,” noting the minty taste and hint of sweetness.

Asked to rate the drink from zero to ten, MrBeast gives Moroccan mint tea an 8.5, prompting mock outrage from his host, who had clearly been hoping for a perfect score. El Wahabi insists that the blend – green tea, fresh mint, and “a little bit of sugar” – deserves top marks, while MrBeast jokingly explains that ten is reserved for his favorite sodas.

For many Moroccan viewers, the most striking part of the clip is not the rating, but seeing one of the world’s biggest YouTubers introduced to a ritual that is central to daily life across the country. Maghrebi mint tea, known locally as “atay b’naanaa,” is widely regarded as a symbol of Moroccan hospitality, shared with guests, family, and friends.

The high pour that becomes the focus of El Wahabi’s “challenge” is a traditional technique used to aerate the tea and build a crown of bubbles on top of the glass. In Moroccan homes, serving tea can become a small ceremony, often reserved for welcoming visitors or marking special gatherings.

By framing the tasting as a playful stunt, the collaboration between MrBeast and El Wahabi taps into both creators’ strengths: global online visibility on one side, and culturally rooted, locally resonant storytelling on the other. For Moroccan fans, seeing their everyday “Berber whiskey” introduced to one of YouTube’s most-watched figures is a point of pride – even if he only gave it an 8.5.
