    Morocco Dominates CAF Women’s Awards 2025

    Rabat– Moroccan women’s football made a historic statement at the CAF Awards 2025, capturing the top honors and cementing its status as a rising powerhouse in African football.

    The awards, which celebrate outstanding achievements among players, coaches, and clubs, exemplified Morocco’s growing influence on the continental stage.

    The winners are:

    • CAF Women’s Coach of the Year: Moroccan Lamia Boumehdi (TP Mazembe)
    • CAF Women’s Interclub Player of the Year: Sanaâ Mssoudy (AS FAR)
    • CAF Women’s Club of the Year: AS FAR

    The sweep reflects Morocco’s strength across all levels of women’s football, from elite players to top-tier coaching and club performance.

    AS FAR’s success, combined with the individual achievements of Mssoudy and Boumehdi, underlines the strength and depth of Moroccan women’s football. 

    The club’s players and coaching staff are recognized for their exceptional performances, cementing Morocco as a continental powerhouse.

    In other major news, the draw for the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2026 took place in Rabat today, marking the first-ever 16-team edition of the tournament. The groups are as follows:

    • Group A: Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Kenya
    • Group B: South Africa, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Tanzania
    • Group C: Nigeria, Zambia, Egypt, Malawi
    • Group D: Ghana, Cameroon, Mali, Cape Verde

    The tournament will take place from March 17 to April 3, 2026, across Rabat and Casablanca, offering Moroccan fans a historic showcase of Africa’s best women’s football talent.
