João Sacramento Satisfied and Impressed with Atlas Lions

Rabat – João Sacramento, assistant coach of the Moroccan national team, shared positive thoughts after his first training camp with the Atlas Lions.

“These first few days have been so much more than just a camp, a true immersion in a rare culture, energy, and passion,” the Portuguese tactician said in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

The camp served as a preparation for the Moroccan national team for upcoming matches, giving the newly assembled coaching staff a chance to evaluate players and help the squad work better together.

Sacramento was full of praise as he described the passion, commitment, and world-class quality of the Atlas Lions.

“Here, football isn’t just played… it’s lived, felt, and defended with heart,” he said.

“I discovered a talented, committed, humble group, deeply attached to its values. It’s an immense source of pride to share the pitch with them.”

Sacramento joined the Moroccan national team’s coaching staff last month, when he was announced as the first assistant coach under new head coach Mohamed Ouahbi.

The 37-year-old has built his career working with some of football’s top figures, gaining recognition in France as assistant coach with Christophe Galtier at Paris Saint-Germain and Lille OSC, where he contributed in developing strong and competitive teams in Ligue 1.

The Portuguese coach also worked on José Mourinho’s technical staff at AS Roma and Tottenham, before taking on a new challenge with the Moroccan national team alongside Mohamed Ouahbi.

With only two months left before the World Cup, Sacramento appears ready to play an important role in supporting the Moroccan team as they push for another historic run at the prestigious tournament.
