FIFA Officially Validates Ayoub Ouarghi’s Move to Moroccan National Team

Rabat – FIFA has officially approved Ayoub Ouarghi’s change of sporting nationality from the Netherlands to Morocco, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) confirmed yesterday.

The decision makes the Feyenoord Rotterdam prospect immediately eligible to represent Morocco at international level, another strategic success for the federation in securing dual-national talent.

Ouarghi, who previously played for the Netherlands at youth level, is now expected to join Morocco’s youth team in the coming international windows as part of the country’s long-term development plans.

At just 18, Ouarghi is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players to have come through the pipeline in the Netherlands.

Currently captaining Feyenoord’s U21 team, the attacking midfielder has already built a strong reputation for his technical quality and influence on the game in advanced areas.

Operating as a wide playmaker capable of drifting centrally, Ouarghi combines vision and precision.

Morocco’s dual-national strategy continues. Ouarghi’s switch is part of a broader recruitment strategy by the FRMF, which has increasingly focused on integrating diaspora talent developed in European academies.

He joins a growing list of Netherlands-trained players committing to Morocco, including prospects such as Sami Bouhoudane and Oualid Agougil.

With FIFA’s administrative process now completed, Ouarghi is eligible for immediate selection and is expected to be integrated under youth team.

The approval comes during a transitional phase for Moroccan football. Walid Regragui stepped down earlier in March 2026, with Ouahbi taking over senior team responsibilities ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Morocco, the first African nation to qualify for the tournament, has been drawn alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti in the group stage, with preparations already underway for the June competition.
