Rabat — FIFA has officially confirmed the dates for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 7.

The announcement made yesterday, confirms the expansion and structuring of the global women’s football calendar, while reinforcing Morocco’s growing role as a host of major international tournaments.

The competition will feature 24 teams from across six confederations, as an expanded format aimed at increasing competitiveness and global representation.

The confirmation of the tournament dates comes as part of FIFA’s broader push to strengthen women’s football at all levels, particularly through youth competitions. The U-17 World Cup is seen as an important development platform, offering emerging talents a huge stage and creating a clearer pathway to senior international football.

Morocco’s selection is also part of a longer-term strategy. The country was awarded hosting rights for five consecutive editions (2025–2029), making it the first African nation to host the tournament on a recurring basis. This continuity allows FIFA to build on existing infrastructure and organizational experience while establishing stability for the competition.

Morocco strengthens its global football role

For Morocco, hosting the U-17 Women’s World Cup can only confirm its growing reputation as a football hub. The country has increasingly positioned itself as a reliable organizer of international events, across both men’s and women’s football.

The 2026 edition will also provide an important platform for African women’s football. Multiple teams from the continent are expected to qualify, while Morocco will automatically participate as host nation.

With qualification campaigns already underway in several regions, preparations for the tournament are well in progress. The confirmed dates now give teams, organizers, and fans a clear timeline as anticipation begins to build.
