Transavia to Launch Summer Flights from Rotterdam to Oujda Transavia to Launch Summer Flights from Rotterdam to Oujda

Rabat – Dutch low-cost airline Transavia will start a temporary summer route between Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Oujda, in the northeast of Morocco.

From July 2 to August 31, the airline will fly twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, directly between Rotterdam and Oujda.

The new route responds to the continued interest in Oujda and shows the importance of Morocco in Transavia’s network, the airline said in a statement.

Oujda is in a region of Morocco where many people in the Netherlands have close family ties. The summer months usually see extra demand for travel to visit family, due to work holidays, Eids and wedding season. Transavia asserts that the  new connection makes it easier for travelers from Rotterdam and nearby areas to reach Oujda directly.

Transavia previously offered Oujda as a temporary destination from Amsterdam during the past Christmas period. “The interest in that route demonstrates the need for a direct connection to this region. Transavia is now building on this with the summer route from Rotterdam,” the airline stated.

In addition to Oujda, Transavia already flies from Rotterdam to other Moroccan destinations, including Al Hoceima, Fez, Nador, and Tangier.

The Dutch airline said the addition of Oujda is part of Transavia’s strategy to meet seasonal travel demand within its Moroccan network.

Many people from the northeast of Morocco, including Oujda and Nador, have settled in the Netherlands over the years, especially in cities like Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and Utrecht.

Families often travel back to visit relatives, attend weddings, or celebrate religious holidays. Travelers usually had to fly via Casablanca or other Moroccan cities, which made trips longer and less convenient.
