In a horrific incident, a Mahindra Thar Rox crashed out of the first floor of a showroom in Delhi on Monday. The incident took place around 5 pm in the Preet Vihar area of East Delhi. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The driver, identified as 29-year-old Maani Pawar, drove the Mahindra Thar through the showroom’s glass wall.
In an attempt to perform a traditional ritual, Maani placed lemons under the vehicle’s tyres and intended to crush them. However, she accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the SUV to lurch forward uncontrollably.
The Thar broke through the showroom’s glass wall and plunged from the first floor onto the road below. The car had been parked on the first floor of the showroom and was being delivered to the owner when it darted forward, smashed through the glass, and plunged to the ground.
According to the police, Maani Pawar, her husband Pradeep, and Vikas, a showroom salesman, were inside the car when it was involved in the accident.
“On Monday at about 6:08 p.m., the medico-legal case (MLC) of Maani Pawar, a resident of Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, was received from Malik Hospital in Nirman Vihar. On enquiry, it was found that Maani and her husband Pradeep had purchased a Thar Rox car from a Mahindra showroom situated at Nirman Vihar,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania said.
“The lady, her husband, and one worker of the showroom, Vikas, were inside the car. Vikas, the salesman, was explaining the functions of the car,” the officer added.
“No one was injured and no complaint was received from anyone,” Dhania said.
A video of the incident, which went viral on social media, showed the overturned Thar on the ground and an empty frame where the glass wall once stood on the first floor.
