    Video: Brady Crews, New Berlin football scrimmage against North Mac

    Senior QB Brady Crews and the New Berlin football team scrimmaged against North Mac for Week 0 before the start of the 2025 season.

    This is a daily list of top performers from Springfield-area high school sports teams for the week of August 25-30 compiled from information provided to The State Journal-Register by coaches, athletic directors and team statisticians.

    Tuesday, Aug. 26 

    Girls Golf 

    Jersey West, North Mac: West fired a 1-over-par 37 and won medalist honors as the Panthers competed individually in a quadrangular meet at Terry Park.  

    Payton Wear, Pleasant Plains: She led Plains with a 45 and the Cardinals finished with a 185 in a quadrangular win over Raymond Lincolnwood, Mount Olive and Palmyra Northwestern at Terry Park.  

    Boys Golf 

    Austin Komnick/Colton Patterson, Auburn: The tandem both shot a 6-over-par 42 and Auburn (177) defeated Maroa-Forsyth (182) and Stanford Olympia (185) in a triangular meet at Edgewood Golf Club. 

    Volleyball 

    Addison Glenn/Mackenzie Mehochko, Nokomis: The teammates had seven kills apiece in Nokomis’ 25-15, 25-18 win over Moweaqua Central A&M. Mehochko led with six digs and Kinley Stolte served three aces and distributed 19 assists. 

    Kinsley Fox/Hannah Holliday, Williamsville: Fox had six digs and six assists and Holliday tallied five kills, five assists and seven service aces in a 25-11, 25-8 victory over visiting Litchfield.  

    Anna Weber, Pleasant Plains: Weber recorded six kills and six blocks in Plains’ 25-12, 25-19 victory at Decatur St. Teresa. Jada Leach led the Cardinals with nine assists. 

    Reagan Campbell/Lakin Johnson, Riverton: Campbell collected six kills and five digs and Johnson supplied 11 assists and three service aces as Riverton beat Clinton 25-15, 25-23.   

    Ava Rodriguez, Pawnee: The senior generated five kills, six digs and two blocks in a 25-21, 25-23 MSM Conference win over Mason City Illini Central. Lily McCario and Ashlyne Cobb also had five kills apiece. Mae McTaggart had nine assists.

    Boys Soccer  

    Julian Rice, Riverton: Rice put in three goals with an assist in Riverton’s 5-0 home win over North Mac. Teammate James Stevens scored and assisted on a North Mac own goal.    

    Monday, Aug. 25 

    Boys Soccer 

    Chase Campbell, Chatham Glenwood: Campbell provided three goals and one assist in Glenwood’s 8-0 victory over Pleasant Plains. 

    Dayane Azonnadou, Southeast: The sophomore scored on a penalty kick in Southeast’s 1-1 tie with host Riverton.    

    Julian Rice, Riverton: Rice converted a goal on a free kick as Riverton tied Southeast 1-1 in the season-opener for both teams.  

    Vandon Sproull/Keagan Brown, Carlinville: The tandem combined for eight goals as Carlinville defeated Edwardsville Metro East Lutheran 9-0 win at Carlinville. Sproull netted five goals and Brown had three.  

    Volleyball 

    Kendall Stotlar, Sacred Heart-Griffin: The senior middle hitter notched eight kills, three blocks and served three aces in SHG’s 25-4, 25-12 home opening win over New Berlin. Kenzie Payton had five kills and four service aces while Addi Brown led with 16 assists. 

    Hannah Holliday, Williamsville: Holliday rang up six kills, eight digs, five assists and three service aces in the Bullets’ 25-17, 25-8 road win over South County in the season opener.    

    Boys Golf 

    Sam Schwab, Litchfield: Schwab won medalist honors with a 2-over-par 38 and lifted the Purple Panthers (171) to a triangular victory over Troy Triad and Bethalto Civic Memorial at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course.  

    Cade Vinyard, Carlinville: The medalist finished with a 2-over-par 38 and helped Carlinville (160) beat Raymond Lincolnwood (167) by seven strokes in a five-team meet at Shoal Creek Golf Course in Raymond.
