Rabat – Local security services and authorities in Sidi Kacem, in the Rabat-Sle Kenitra region, continue to implement proactive plans to address the risks of rising water levels in the Sebou river.
On Saturday, local authorities said the evacuation operation continued, especially in the Douar Ait Daoud in the commune of Tekna, to protect human lives and property.
The operation enabled the evacuation of over 60 residents of the douar. The authorities enabled their safe evacuation to temporary accommodation, away from flood-prone areas.
Similar operations took place in several provinces, including in Ksar El Kebir, where evacuation operations were carried out by authorities for residents affected by the flooding of the Loukkos River in several neighborhoods.
The Louskkos river received record water inflows over the past weeks due to heavy rainfall, especially after the Oued Al Makhazen dam reached 100% capacity.
The Ministry of Equipment on Saturday announced that there has been temprarity suspended on National Road 1 linking Souk Larbaa and Ksar El Kebir at the southern entrance of Ksar El Kebir.
The suspension also included the regional road No.410 linking Larache and Ksar El Kebir. The interruption is due to rising water levels in the Loukkos River, the ministry said, informing road users that it is possible to bypass the affected area by heading toward the city of Larache via the A5 highway– then taking provincial road No.4402 between Larache and Rissana. Passengers can finally reach their destination by using the national road 1 between Rissana and Ksar El Kebir.
The ministry emphasized that traffic will be restored as soon as water levels recede, urging road users to exercise caution and comply with traffic signs to ensure their safety.
