Rabat-Senegal are AFCON 2025 champions after a tense 1-0 win over hosts Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. The winning goal came in the 94th minute when Pape Gueye finished a quick counterattack with his left foot, finally breaking the deadlock and sending the Senegalese team into celebration.

The match was evenly contested from start to finish. Morocco held strong defensively, with Yassine Bounou making key saves to keep his team in the game. Morocco midfielder Neil El Aynaoui suffered a scary mid-air collision with a Senegalese player in the 65th minute, leaving him bleeding and worrying fans, but he bravely stayed on the pitch.

Both teams had chances, and the game’s intensity never let up. Senegal’s late breakthrough came after a fast counter, showing their speed and composure in the decisive moment. Morocco fought until the final whistle but could not find a way past Senegal’s defense.

Senegal lift the trophy for the second time, having previously won in 2021. For Morocco, it’s heartbreak at home, with their last AFCON title dating back to 1976, but the team showed courage, skill, and determination throughout the tournament.
