Rabat – Following severe flooding in Ksar El Kebir, King Mohammed VI issued urgent instructions for immediate intervention to protect citizens affected by flooding.

The Royal Armed Forces have deployed specialized units, fully equipped with vehicles, logistics, and emergency supplies, to evacuate and shelter those impacted.

According to a statement from the General Command of the Royal Armed Forces, this deployment is coordinated with the Interior Ministry and local authorities to ensure rapid and efficient assistance for affected communities.

The forces are tasked with both transporting residents from flood-affected areas and providing temporary housing, medical care, and other essential support.

Heavy rainfall and rising water levels from the Oued El Makhazine dam caused the Oued Loukkos River to overflow, flooding streets, homes, and vehicles.

Social media videos show water reaching waist level, with many horses and cars fully submerged. Patients and staff were evacuated from a local hospital earlier this week after its ground floor was fully submerged.

Videos showed authorities moving around neighborhoods urging residents to evacuate ground floors, move to higher levels, and take all warnings seriously.

The Royal Armed Forces have set up a temporary shelter on a site along the Tétouan road. The site is being equipped with around 100 fully furnished tents, heating systems to protect residents from the cold, and a fully equipped field hospital supported by ambulances and specialized medical staff.

The shelter is prepared to accommodate dozens of families until floodwaters recede and it is safe for them to return home.

Authorities are advising all residents to follow instructions carefully and remain vigilant as heavy rains continue in the region.
