Marrakech – Signaling an epoch-defining intensification of Morocco-Russia aviation connectivity, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is set to launch its first direct flight service between Casablanca and St. Petersburg on January 21.
The Moroccan national carrier will inaugurate the historic route with a ceremonial welcome at Pulkovo Airport, featuring traditional Moroccan dance performances and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event will begin at 4:30 a.m. with passenger activities, culminating in the formal route opening at 4:55 a.m.
Key St. Petersburg officials will participate in the ceremony, including Asiyat Osmanovna Khalvashi, Director of Aviation Commerce at Pulkovo Airport, Evgeny Viktorovich Pankevich, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee, and Nizam Adilkhanovich Mamishev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on External Relations.

The new service will operate three times weekly using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The route represents the first direct air connection between these two cities.
More specifically, flight schedules show departures from Casablanca on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 11:10 p.m. local time, arriving in St. Petersburg at 6:55 a.m. the following day. Return flights will leave St. Petersburg on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 8:05 a.m., landing in Casablanca at 11:45 a.m. local time.
Casablanca serves as Morocco’s largest city and principal transportation hub. Through Royal Air Maroc’s extensive network, St. Petersburg passengers will gain convenient transfer connections to destinations across Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
The route launch fulfills an announcement made in October 2025 during a diplomatic meeting between Moroccan and Russian foreign ministers in Moscow. Royal Air Maroc CEO Hamid Addou described the upcoming St. Petersburg service as “a major strategic step for the national airline.”
“It strengthens our presence in Russia and demonstrates our commitment to connecting Morocco and the African continent to major global economic and cultural centers,” Addou stated at the time.
“This new service will meet travelers’ growing connectivity expectations while offering an increasingly quality onboard experience, consistent with our commitment to continuous customer experience improvement.”
The St. Petersburg route will complement Royal Air Maroc’s existing daily service between Casablanca and Moscow, expanding the airline’s Russian network to two destinations. The service responds to increasing demand for travel between Morocco and Russia for professional, academic, and tourism purposes.
The route takes under six hours of flight time. St. Petersburg, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage cultural jewel, attracts visitors with world-renowned museums, including the Hermitage, scenic canals, and majestic architecture.
Morocco continues attracting growing numbers of Russian visitors drawn by its favorable climate, rich heritage, and renowned hospitality. The expanding economic, cultural, and tourism exchanges between the two countries bear out the route’s commercial viability.
Tickets became available for purchase on October 23, 2025, through Royal Air Maroc’s website, call centers, commercial agencies, and travel agency networks.
