Rabat – Prince Moulay Rachid received members of the Moroccan national football team at the Royal Guests Palace in Rabat, after their play at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 final.

During the reception, Prince Moulay Rachid was welcomed by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), coach Walid Regragui, and the national team players, before posing for a commemorative photo.

The event shows the enduring support of King Mohammed VI for Moroccan youth, as well as the monarch’s special attention to sports and football in particular.

Following the conclusion of the final match against Senegal, King Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to the national team. In his message, the King commended the team’s journey in AFCON 2025.

The King said that the Atlas Lions “demonstrated that perseverance, commitment, and teamwork are the path to achieving excellence” and “offered the world a glimpse of what Moroccan and African youth can accomplish when they trust in their talents and abilities.”

The King also noted that the team’s “determination and heroic, honorable performance reflect the importance of our strategic vision to invest in human capital and modernize the Kingdom’s infrastructures, which proved their resilience and world-class readiness in preparation for hosting the 2030 World Cup.”

Even after a hard-fought, but chaotic, loss in the final, the Atlas Lions filled all Moroccans with pride.

Their determination on the pitch, the courage they displayed under pressure, and the unity they showed as a team captured the hearts of the entire country.

Their journey throughout AFCON 2025 has become a symbol of Moroccan resilience and talent, proving that true victory is not only measured by trophies but by the spirit and honor with which a team competes.
