ONDA Launches Aérobus Shuttle Between Casablanca, Mohammed V Airport for MAD 50

Marrakech – Morocco’s National Airports Office (ONDA) launched Aérobus, a new shuttle service connecting Casablanca to Mohammed V International Airport, on Monday. The service offers direct transportation for MAD 50 ($5) per trip.

The shuttle operates 24 hours daily with departures every 30 minutes during peak hours and every 40 minutes during nighttime periods. ONDA accelerated the service deployment to ensure operation before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), providing early access for Moroccan residents and international visitors.

ONDA developed the service in coordination with Alsa Al Baida, the Greater Casablanca public transport operator. The shuttle connects Casa Port railway station to Terminal 2, with a stop at Terminal 1, while serving major city neighborhoods along the route.

The modern fleet consists of air-conditioned buses equipped with free WiFi, secure baggage storage areas, and facilities for passengers with reduced mobility. Each vehicle accommodates 80 passengers, including 26 seated positions. The buses meet Euro VI environmental standards to minimize their ecological impact.

Qualified multilingual drivers operate the vehicles, supported by daily customer service assistance. ONDA targets transporting 4,500 passengers daily once the service reaches full capacity. The company plans to reinforce operations during AFCON 2025 to handle increased passenger volumes.

The shuttle service complements existing transport options, including trains and taxis. Urban network connections facilitate passenger transfers to public transportation, simplifying travel arrangements for all users.

This collective transport solution aims to reduce individual car trips to the airport, thereby decreasing road congestion during peak travel periods, including Hajj, Umrah pilgrimages, and the summer Marhaba operations for Moroccan expatriates.

The service addresses longstanding passenger frustrations with limited transport options and high taxi fares that have plagued airport connections for years. Many travelers previously complained about the lack of reliable and affordable means to reach Mohammed V Airport, forcing them to rely on expensive taxi services or navigate complex transport connections.

According to officials, the fixed MAD 50 ($5) fare provides an affordable alternative to individual transport options, though the price point may still present challenges for some passengers seeking budget travel solutions.

The Aérobus launch forms part of ONDA’s Airports 2030 strategy, which focuses on delivering innovative services and seamless passenger experiences. ONDA implemented the initiative in collaboration with the Greater Casablanca Prefecture and Nouaceur Province.

The comprehensive service positions Aérobus as a reliable connection between Morocco’s economic capital and its primary aviation hub, offering a structured response to years of transport connectivity issues.
