Rabat – The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Basketball African League (BAL) leadership placed the BAL4HER initiative at the center stage today at the Conrad Hotel in Rabat, advancing women’s empowerment across the basketball ecosystem.

The BAL4HER, organized by BAL, aims to empower and develop young female talent by focusing on on-court and off-court development, while inspiring women to pursue leadership positions and explore diverse career opportunities in sport.

The initiative featured a mentorship program, in favor of young females focusing on sport psychology training and advocacy through workshops that brought together 60 to 100 young professionals and 30 mentors for panels and breakout groups.
NBA Africa CEO Clare Akamanzi pointed to the league’s mission to use basketball as a bridge for social transformation. By launching the BAL4HER workshop in the Moroccan capital, she emphasized that the NBA’s commitment to women rests on both common sense and strategic growth.
“The NBA today invests in women. Not only do we have a league, but we also have programs that include women like Her Time to Play, BAL4HER.” Akamanzi said.

“But even those who end up not working in the sports industry are going to be enriched by sessions like this” Akamanzi added “you’re going to be inspired by stories of success, stories of resilience. You’re going to learn life skills.”
BAL workshops focus on the basketball industry , promoting girls’ participation in the sport while highlighting opportunities in playing, careers, employment, and sports management.
