Rabat – Munir El Haddadi, the Moroccan international currently playing for Esteghlal FC in Tehran, has reassured fans about his situation after recent unrest in Iran.

In an Instagram post, the forward explained the difficulties he faced upon leaving the country and thanked supporters for their concern.

“I would like to thank everyone for your messages and concern regarding my situation in Iran,” El Haddadi wrote. “Yesterday, the plan was to leave the country by air, but in the end, we were evacuated from the plane and were unable to take off.”

The player went on to say that his club stepped in to arrange an alternative route. “The club provided me with a car to leave the country by road, and thanks to that, I was able to cross the border without any issues. I am now safe in Turkey and will be arriving in Spain within the next few hours. Thank you all for your kindness.”

His statement comes after hours of speculation among fans and media about whether he had managed to leave Iran safely.

US and Israeli forces launched strikes in Iran yesterday, hitting senior leaders and key sites in Tehran. Iranian state media confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the strike. The attacks have thrown the country into turmoil, with new strikes, transport shutdowns, and fears of retaliation making travel harder for foreign players and staff.

The country has seen heightened tensions and disruptions in recent days, making travel for foreign players and staff uncertain. Reports suggested that several flights were canceled or delayed, leaving athletes stranded.
