Morocco U23 Friendly vs. Saudi Arabia Cancelled, Federation Reorganizes International Window

Rabat – The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has confirmed the cancellation of the Morocco U23 national team’s friendly match against Saudi Arabia, initially scheduled for March 26. In response, the federation has reshuffled its international window program to ensure continued preparation for the country’s youth squads.

The cancellation comes amid regional travel disruptions across the Middle East due to the ongoing US-Iran-Israel war, which have affected several planned matches and training camps. While the exact reasons for this specific cancellation were not detailed, it makes sense in the broader logistical challenges facing international youth matches in the region.

As part of its revised program, the Morocco U23 side will now play a double friendly against the Ivory Coast U23 team at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Sale. The first match is scheduled for March 26, followed by the second on March 30, allowing the coaching staff to maintain the team’s competitive rhythm.

This adjustment fits into an international window in which Morocco’s youth national teams are engaged in intensive preparations. The U20 squad, for example, will face Union Touarga Sport and Club Omnisports de Meknès in two friendly games during a training camp running from March 23 to March 31, also at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.

These matches are valuable opportunities for player assessment against senior club opposition.

The U23 squad is currently operating without a permanent head coach following Mohamed Ouahbi’s promotion to lead Morocco’s senior national team.
