Rabat – Authorities in several Moroccan provinces have announced the suspension of classes today as a precautionary measure in response to unfavorable weather conditions, following alerts issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

In Chtouka Ait Baha, the Provincial Monitoring Committee decided to suspend classes across all public and private educational institutions in the province.

The committee said the decision followed a weather alert from the DGM and a continuous assessment of local conditions.

A similar decision was taken in Essaouira, where the provincial directorate of the Ministry of National Education announced the continuation of the temporary suspension of classes in all schools today.

The move also comes after the latest DGM alert warning of heavy rainfall and strong winds that could pose risks to students and educational personnel.

The provincial directorate said the decision was made according to recommendations from the Provincial Monitoring Committee and results from close coordination with local authorities and relevant stakeholders.

In Tiznit, the provincial directorate of the Ministry of National Education also ordered an exceptional, preventive suspension of classes today across all educational institutions.

Authorities continue to monitor weather developments closely and urge vigilance as adverse conditions persist in several areas.

Morocco has experienced a series of significant weather disturbances in recent weeks, marked by heavy rainfall, strong winds, and sudden drops in temperature across several regions.

During this period, the DGM has issued multiple orange and red-level weather alerts, urging citizens to exercise caution, limit unnecessary travel, and strictly follow safety instructions issued by local authorities, particularly in areas exposed to flooding, strong gusts, and difficult weather conditions.
