Rabat – The Moroccan National Boxing Team delivered a standout performance at the Boxing World Cup held in Brazil from April 17 to 28.

The team returned home with two medals, silver and bronze, following eleven days of this high stake continental competition.

The boxers finished in 11th place in world overall ranking, among 61 participating countries.Issam Bensayar clinched the silver medal in the 50 kg category, showcasing his technical precision throughout the tournament.

Bensayar, a fighter defined by his tactical intelligence, confirmed his presence on the international stage despite coming into the contest as an underdog. His ability to handle high-stake pressure has put him on the map as not just a rising prospect, but a cornerstone for the future of Moroccan Boxing.

In the women’s category, world champion Widad Bertal secured the bronze medal in the 54kg category, confirming her strong return to the ring and re-establishing her status among the global elite. Bertal has long been a household name and world champion in women boxing in Morocco.

Her recent success in Brazil marks a triumph for her return after a period of intense training to reclaim her peak. She remains highly respected as one of the most dangerous and technical fighters in the world. This latest win means Bertale’s legacy still continues to inspire young athletes across the continent.

The achievement also marks a significant milestone for Morocco’s pugilism on the international  stage. Securing the podium in South America has solidified the North African country’s presence as a rising power in the sport, with Moroccan representatives demonstrating tactical precision and physical condition throughout the tournament.
