Morocco Receives Second Batch of AH-64E Apache Helicopters

Agadir – The Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) has officially received its second batch of Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters, modernizing its military and enhancing operational readiness.

The new helicopters arrived as part of a phased delivery  under Morocco’s government-to-government acquisition program with the US.

This shipment follows the first batch delivery of six AH-64Es, delivered in March 2025 to the 7th Air Base in Khouribga.

The RMAF emphasized that the delivery aligns with Morocco’s national strategy to modernize its military and reinforce defense capabilities while strengthening the country’s partnership with the US.

The helicopters are part of a 2020 agreement with the US Defense Department for 24 AH-64E Apache Guardian aircraft, with an option to acquire an additional 12 units.

The deal, valued at an estimated $1.5 billion, aims to equip Morocco’s military with advanced weapons systems across all service branches.

The AH-64E Apache Guardian ranks among the world’s most advanced attack helicopters, combining heavy firepower with sophisticated electronics.

Its armament features a 30mm M230 chain gun for precision strikes at short to medium range and can carry AGM-114 Hellfire missiles for standoff attacks against armored targets and fortified positions.

Additional payloads include Hydra 70 rockets and other guided or unguided munitions, offering versatile combat options.

The AH-64E is also equipped with the AN/APG-78 Longbow Fire Control Radar, which gives it a tactical edge by identifying, monitoring, and tracking both ground and aerial targets even in difficult weather or complex terrain.

This system allows the helicopter to engage multiple threats at once and guide Hellfire missiles in real time.

This second delivery enables the Royal Moroccan Air Force to strengthen its close air support and strike capacity, positioning the country as one of North Africa’s most capable rotary-wing attack forces.
