Rabat – The Moroccan Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) has warned of severe weather today, with heavy storms and powerful winds expected to affect several regions.
Thunderstorms capable of producing 25 to 35 mm of rainfall will strike Beni Mellal, Khenifra, Ifrane, Boulemane, and Taza between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., according to the DGM’s orange-level alert.
Meanwhile, provinces including Figuig, Jerada, Boulemane, Azilal, Essaouira, Chichaoua, Al Haouz, Midelt, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, and Safi will experience strong wind gusts of 75 to 85 kilometers per hour from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Authorities urge people in the affected areas to take precautions and stay informed as the weather system moves across the country.
Morocco has seen a rise in severe weather alerts in recent days, with authorities increasingly warning residents about storms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds.
The caution advisories are especially pertinent during Eid Al Fitr, when many people travel across the country to visit family, making sudden weather changes particularly risky.
Citizens are advised to follow updates from the DGM and take necessary precautions to protect themselves, their families, and their property.
