Rabat – Morocco’s Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, met on Tuesday in Rabat with Mikael Wern, Police Director and Head of Denmark’s National Unit for Combating Organized Crime.

The Danish delegation included security officials, crime-fighting experts, and representatives from the Danish Embassy in Rabat.

According to a statement from DGSN-DGST, the meeting focused on key security issues of shared interest. Discussions included evaluating bilateral cooperation in fighting cross-border crime networks, tracking terrorist organizations at the regional and international level, and improving coordination in monitoring, pursuing, and extraditing wanted individuals.

The meeting also focused on the importance of further strengthening security cooperation between Morocco and Denmark.

Both sides agreed to establish a formal institutional and legal framework to support collaboration between Moroccan security agencies and their Danish counterparts. This includes sharing expertise, providing technical assistance, supporting joint police training programs, and enhancing operational cooperation.

Hammouchi and Wern also agreed to prioritize the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to serve as a reference framework for bilateral cooperation.

The MoU will lay the foundation for a strong, long-term partnership that reflects Morocco’s growing role as a reliable international partner in combating crime, terrorism, and extremism.

The statement noted that the meeting is part of Morocco’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships with friendly and allied countries. It also reflects the commitment of Morocco’s security agencies to participate in global initiatives aimed at reducing threats to regional and international security.
