Rabat—Nezha Bidouane has been granted a fresh four-year term on the governing board of the International Sport for All Federation (FISPT), following elections held during the organization’s general congress in central Italy.

The Moroccan sports official, who heads the Royal Moroccan Federation for Sport for All, retained her seat as representatives from dozens of countries gathered on January 24 and 25 to shape the federation’s future leadership.

Bidouane’s renewed mandate strengthens Morocco’s voice within global sports governance at a time when the country is increasingly active on the international stage. Her presence reflects years of engagement in programs aimed at expanding access to sport beyond elite competition and into everyday community life.

A former world-class athlete, Bidouane enjoyed a distinguished career on the track, winning multiple global titles in the 400-meter hurdles and earning Olympic bronze at the Sydney Games. She has since transitioned into sports administration, where she continues to play a visible role in promoting inclusive sporting initiatives.

Reacting to the achievement, Bidouane welcomed the confidence shown by member nations spanning four continents, describing it as recognition of Morocco’s growing contribution to Sport for All programs. She recalled that discussions during the congress opened the door to future partnerships, including strong interest from several countries in participating in Morocco’s upcoming International Festival of Traditional Games and Sports, scheduled to be held in Guercif.

FISPT leadership, meanwhile, commended Morocco’s approach to sports development.

Issa Mohammed Abderrahim of Bahrain, FISPT president, pointed to the country’s experienced sports professionals, modern infrastructure, and proven record in hosting large-scale international events, citing these factors as reasons Morocco is increasingly viewed as a reference point in the field.

The gathering brought together over 100 delegates from 35 nations, and concluded with a key administrative decision: the federation’s headquarters will move to Rome, ending a period during which the organization was based in Bahrain.
