Agadir – The Professional Group of Banks of Morocco (GPBM) has expressed its full solidarity with affected communities and announced the mobilization of all Moroccan banks to ensure the continuity of banking services and provide support to impacted customers.

Amid these challenging conditions, Moroccan banks say they are fully committed to supporting both individuals and businesses. The banks’ role is to ensure that essential banking services remain accessible, stressing that this effort reflects a broader solidarity in the face of natural disasters.

    Large-scale evacuations

The floods have already prompted large-scale evacuations. According to the latest figures from the Ministry of the Interior, updated on February 6, more than 154,000 people have been relocated from flood areas as a precaution.

In this challenging context, Moroccan banks and the GPBM, in coordination with the relevant authorities, are implementing exceptional measures to help affected communities.

Banks and the GPBM are implementing exceptional measures to maintain service continuity in flood-affected areas. This includes keeping branches operational, ensuring access to ATMs, and leveraging digital channels to provide uninterrupted access to essential banking services.

Targeted communication initiatives have been launched to inform clients about available services, operational updates, and emergency support measures.

Special attention is being given to affected clients, with personalized assistance tailored to each situation to help them navigate the aftermath of the floods.

At the same time, banks are taking all necessary precautions to safeguard the safety of their employees, enabling them to continue serving customers under secure conditions.

The Professional Group of Banks of Morocco and all member banks reaffirm their commitment to stand by the communities impacted by these floods, offering support and solidarity during this difficult time.
