Rabat – Moroccan forward Yassir Zabiri does not feature on Rennes’ squad list for the Ligue 1 match against Lens on Saturday, with a minor injury ruling him out of making his first appearance for the club.
Head coach Habib Beye confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the new signing is not yet ready to play.
Zabiri is currently undergoing physical recovery after picking up a slight thigh muscle problem, which prevents him from joining competitive action immediately.
The 20-year-old attacker only joined Rennes earlier this week and has already taken part in a few training sessions with his new teammates. Yet the medical staff advised caution, focusing on his rehabilitation before allowing him to feature in matches.
Beye explained that the injury is not serious but requires short-term management to avoid setbacks. The plan is to gradually build Zibari’s fitness so he can be fully prepared for upcoming fixtures.
Rennes supporters will therefore have to wait a little longer to see their new player in action. The club remains confident that once he regains full fitness, Zibari will add depth and energy to their attacking options in the second half of the season.
For now, the priority is ensuring his complete recovery, with the expectation that he will make his official debut in the near future.
