Marsa Maroc Secures Social Peace Deal With Unions Through 2030

Mohammedia – Marsa Maroc has signed a long-term social peace agreement with its trade union partners, aiming to stabilize labor relations and ensure continuity across its port operations until the end of 2030.

The deal, announced yesterday, follows months of negotiations and brings together management and five representative labor unions in what the company describes as a milestone for its social governance.

The agreement was concluded with the UMT, ODT, CDT, FDT, and UGTM unions, which collectively represent Marsa Maroc’s workforce.

It establishes a structured framework for labor relations in a sector considered strategic for Morocco’s economy, where operational disruptions can have wide-reaching implications for trade and logistics.

According to the port operator, the accord is designed to embed social dialogue as a permanent mechanism rather than a reactive tool.

It seeks to reduce tensions, provide predictability for employees and management alike, and create conditions that support the company’s long-term development plans in Morocco and abroad.

Marsa Maroc emphasized that the process leading to the agreement was based on consultation, transparency, and shared responsibility.

Beyond guaranteeing social stability, the deal includes measures intended to improve professional conditions for employees, reflecting what the company framed as a broader commitment to motivation, recognition, and workforce engagement.

A strategic bet on stability and human capital

Both management and union representatives have presented the agreement as a convergence of interests rather than a compromise born of conflict.

In their respective statements, the unions unanimously praised the company’s management for the quality of the dialogue and the initiatives that made the agreement possible.

They also called on employees to fully support Marsa Maroc’s strategic projects and to remain engaged in the performance momentum the group has built in recent years.

The timing of the agreement is notable. Marsa Maroc is currently navigating a phase of expansion and transformation, marked by major infrastructure projects and the internationalization of its port operations.

Securing a stable social environment through 2030 provides management with greater visibility as it executes these plans, while offering employees assurances in a period of operational change.

Financially, the group has shown solid momentum. Marsa Maroc reported consolidated revenues of MAD 4.3 billion for the first nine months of 2025, up 16% compared to the same period in 2024.

While the social agreement is not directly tied to financial performance, the company has positioned workforce stability as a key enabler of sustained growth and service reliability.

In its communications, Marsa Maroc described the deal as an “advanced step” toward building a work environment rooted in trust, cohesion, and long-term commitment. The operator framed social peace not as an end in itself, but as a lever to support project delivery, stakeholder satisfaction, and the resilience of its business model.

By locking in a social framework through 2030, Marsa Maroc is strategically prioritizing dialogue and predictability in labor relations as it continues to scale its operations in a competitive, increasingly complex port and logistics landscape.
