Rabat – Morocco has confirmed its participation as a founding member of a new international Peace Council launched by US President Donald J. Trump, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today.

The council aims to support peace efforts in the Middle East and promote new approaches to resolving conflicts worldwide.

Membership in the council is reserved for a select group of global leaders recognized for their commitment to building a secure and prosperous future.

The invitation reflects international recognition of King Mohammed VI’s leadership and his pivotal role in peace initiatives and notes the confidence the monarch commands from the US and the broader international community.

King Mohammed VI welcomed the invitation and approved Morocco’s participation.

Morocco will formally ratify the Council’s founding charter. According to the statement, the Peace Council will function as an international organization focused on restoring stability, strengthening governance, and promoting lasting peace in regions affected by conflict.

Its work will center on practical cooperation and partnerships with clear, tangible outcomes.

The Moroccan government also welcomed President Trump’s announcement of the second phase of his Middle East peace plan, including the establishment of a National Committee to oversee Gaza temporarily.

Morocco reaffirmed its commitment to a just and lasting peace in the region, supporting the creation of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side in peace with Israel.
