FIFA President Gianni Infantino said on Wednesday evening at the CAF Awards in Rabat that African football matches the world’s best.
Speaking on the sidelines of the CAF Awards ceremony, held in the Moroccan capital, Infantino said that Africa’s top players and clubs stand among the best at the global level.
He also referred to the significant progress made by African countries, including Morocco, especially in terms of infrastructure development and the overall growth of the sport across the continent.
The head of world football’s governing body expressed his satisfaction at being in Morocco, which he described as the land of the world champions at under-20 level.
As part of the 2025 CAF Awards, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) distinguished several Moroccan players and teams.
The Moroccan under-20 national team received the award for Best African Team. Achraf Hakimi was named Best Player, Yassine Bounou won Best Goalkeeper, Ghizlane Chebbak was awarded Best Women’s Player, Othman Maamma earned the Best Young Player award, and Doha Madani was named Best Young Women’s Player.
