Huawei’s AI-Powered Security Platform Fuels Marjane’s Rapid Retail Expansion

Rabat – Marjane, Morocco’s biggest supermarket group, is racing through a period of unprecedented growth — and the company is turning to AI to keep that momentum steady.

With more than 130 stores across 30 cities and a strategy to open 40 to 45 new branches every year, the retailer has reached a stage where traditional networks can no longer keep up with its ambitions.

To strengthen the foundation of its expansion, Marjane has adopted Huawei’s Xinghe AI Unified SASE solution, a security and connectivity platform designed to simplify branch deployment, secure sensitive data, and guarantee smooth in-store operations across the country.

For a retailer processing thousands of transactions each day, even a few seconds of delay at checkout can ripple into long lines, frustrated customers, and lost sales.

Marjane had been grappling with these challenges as its rapid growth strained an aging network system. Stores depended on public Internet links to connect with headquarters, exposing sensitive customer information to cyber risks while struggling with slow deployments and inconsistent performance.

A modern network for a modern retailer

The shift to Huawei’s platform marks a major upgrade in how Marjane builds and manages its digital infrastructure. One of the biggest advantages comes from deployment speed.

Previously, activating a new store’s network could take a week or more. With Huawei’s plug-and-play approach, branches can now be brought online within minutes — a critical improvement for a company adding dozens of stores each year.

The new system also significantly enhances the customer experience. During busy promotional periods, Marjane often sees spikes in point of sale (POS) transactions, loyalty program usage, and real-time inventory updates.

Huawei’s AI-backed traffic management ensures that these essential services are always given priority, keeping checkout queues moving quickly even under heavy demand. For shoppers, this translates into shorter waits and smoother service. For Marjane, it means better performance during its most profitable moments.

Security, however, remains the heart of the transformation. Each store processes more than 10,000 payment operations a day. With stricter regulations and rising cyber threats, protecting that data has become non-negotiable.

Huawei’s solution introduces advanced threat detection powered by AI, sophisticated malware filtering, and stronger encryption for all communication between stores and headquarters.

The system is built to detect unfamiliar or evolving cyberattacks, raising the bar for what a secure retail network looks like in Morocco.

Huawei’s specialized hardware further reinforces these protections, ensuring fast and efficient communication without slowing the customer-facing experience.

The result is a security perimeter that evolves continuously while supporting the company’s push for nationwide expansion.

Together, Marjane and Huawei aim to build a comprehensive protection system that covers everything from stores to data centers, strengthening Marjane’s position as a leader in Morocco’s fast-changing retail market.
