Rabat – Morocco’s Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, chaired on Tuesday in Rabat the ceremony to award royal wissams (decorations), which King Mohammed VI bestowed upon executives and officials of DGST.

About 139 women and men civil servants of various grades and ranks received the royal wissams, honoring the executives for their efforts in contributing to Morocco’s security and citizens’ safety.

A DGST quoted Hammouchi as stressing how this distinction is a recognition of the remarkable sacrifices throughout the executives’ professional careers, reflecting their unwavering commitment to serving the nation’s constants and higher interests.

Hammouchi also congratulated the decorated officials, describing them as “a source of personal pride and professional satisfaction.”

He urged them to further carry out their noble mission with dedication, that of protecting the national territory against any danger or threat to the safety of people and property.

In January, DGSN announced that a total of 8,913 police officers benefited from promotions for the 2025 budget year.

In a statement today, DGSN said the number represents 65% of all candidates listed on the promotion tables.

The beneficiaries for last year’s budget year include 6,033 uniformed police officers and 2,880 plainclothes officers.

DGSN said it “gave special attention to lower and mid-ranking officers,” pledging professional and objective criteria to allow the security services from this category to advance in their careers.

Around 509 personnel were promoted to the rank of police brigadier, while 2,717 were promoted to chief brigadier, and 1,040 to senior police inspector.

“The DGSN attaches great importance to promotion and ensures they occur annually and on schedule, given their central role in professional advancement and as one of the main administrative incentives,” DGSN said in its statement in January.
