Rabat – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Coach Luis Enrique has commented on Achraf Hakimi’s return to the pitch following his injury.
Enrique answered questions regarding Hakimi, emphasizing that he is “doing well.”
He recalled Morocco’s impressive AFCON run, in which the Atlas Lions qualified for the semi-finals.
“That’s good news. For us, it’s important that he’s fit and 100%, which isn’t the case yet,” Enrique said.
For Enrique, it’s beneficial that Hakimi is playing with the Moroccan national team so he can get into his best form.
Hakimi participated in three games in the AFCON 2025 so far, including the group stage match against Zambia, the Round of 16 against Tanzania, and the quarterfinal against Cameroon.
Hakimi emphasized during the group stage that being back after a long absence felt special.
“I missed playing so much, and I am very happy to be back. This match [against Zambia] showed the spirit we have been looking for as a team,” he said.
He pointed out the atmosphere in the stadium, stressing the crucial role the fans played in the performance. “The game was also great for the supporters. The energy in the stands was exactly what we needed. We will give everything for the national jersey and to make our fans proud of the work we do.”
Morocco is facing a decisive semifinal match against Nigeria tonight at 9 p.m. Moroccan time, with Hakimi set to feature as part of the XI starting lineup.
