Hakimi Ruled Out in Auxerre Match as PSG Manage His Gradual Return

Rabat – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will be without Achraf Hakimi for their Ligue 1 trip to Auxerre as the Moroccan right-back continues his gradual return to full fitness. The club confirmed that Hakimi has not yet rejoined full team training and is still following an individual recovery program after a demanding period that included both injury management and his recent international commitments.

Hakimi is back at the PSG training ground and has started training again, splitting his time between light work on the pitch and individual exercises with the medical staff. Although he is feeling better, the club have chosen to take a cautious approach and leave him out of the match against Auxerre to avoid any setbacks. According to PSG’s latest medical update, the priority is a gradual return to full fitness and gym work rather than rushing him back into competition.

The player’s absence is purely precautionary, with no indication of a serious problem. The coaching staff simply want to make sure he is fully match-ready before bringing him back into the squad, especially with a demanding run of fixtures coming up.

Luis Enrique wants individual talks before a decision

Head coach Luis Enrique addressed Hakimi’s availability at his pre-match press conference: “He’s back and in normal condition. He has a minor physical issue, nothing serious. Whether he will be available tomorrow depends on training. I want to talk with him individually to understand how he feels and what he is thinking, and after that we will decide.”

Enrique said Hakimi is generally feeling fine, but it’s important to remember that the player had been sidelined for nearly two months before AFCON in mid-December and had to recover quickly to join the Atlas Lions. Competing in the tournament and coping with the mental toll of losing a controversial final adds to the need for careful management. The decision to leave him out against Auxerre was made collectively, with Hakimi’s own feedback playing an important role.

The PSG coach made it clear that managing Hakimi’s workload is a priority, particularly with key fixtures approaching in both domestic and European competitions. If his recovery continues as planned, Hakimi could be considered for selection in the coming days, with the Champions League firmly in mind.
