Rabat–Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has expressed heartfelt gratitude to national team coach Walid Regragui, praising his leadership and impact on Moroccan football.

Regragui has announced his departure as head coach of the Moroccan national football team, bringing an end to a tenure marked by historic achievements and high expectations.

In a message shared on social media, Hakimi thanked Regragui for the “exceptional work” he carried out at the helm of the Morocco national football team. The defender highlighted the coach’s leadership, passion, and vision, saying they inspired not only the players but also millions of Moroccan supporters around the world.

Hakimi also commended Regragui for supporting the nation’s talent and for strengthening the spirit of unity within the squad. According to the player, the coach demonstrated that discipline, hard work, and sincere determination can lead to remarkable achievements.

“Thank you for believing in Moroccan talent, for strengthening the team spirit, and for showing that with discipline, hard work, and above all with niya (sincere intention), great things can be achieved,” wrote Hakimi.

Under Regragui’s leadership, Morocco reached historic milestones, including its unprecedented run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which elevated the global reputation of the Atlas Lions.

Hakimi concluded his message by thanking the coach for leaving a lasting mark on the history of Moroccan football and for proudly representing the nation’s colors.

Appointed in 2022, Regragui made history by guiding Morocco to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The run marked the first time an African and Arab team reached that stage of the tournament, earning the Atlas Lions global recognition.
