Rabat – Holger Munch, the President of the Criminal Police of the Federal Republic of Germany, has commended the “very good” security cooperation between Rabat and Berlin.

“I would like to commend this very good cooperation that has existed between our two countries for years and continues to improve,” Munch told the press following his meetings with the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, today.

Munch is part of the high-level officials who have been participating in the 93rd session of Interpol’s General Assembly, held from November 24- 27 in Marrakech.

“We are very grateful for it and truly appreciate it,” he said, describing Moroccan security services as “very efficient.”

The German official emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries, which “rely on each other” in this field.

The General Assembly kicked off on Monday, bringing together 800 delegates from 179 countries. The delegations include 82 police chiefs, who discussed different issues, including the identification and dismantling of transnational organized crime.

Its goal is to strengthen Interpol’s global police capabilities as well as promote the role of women in policing.

This is the second time Marrakech has hosted this event. In 2007, Marrakech also hosted the 76th session of the General Assembly held under the theme of “The Road to Security for a Safer Future.”

During his opening remarks,  Hammouchi re-convyed Morocco’s commitment towards contributing to boosting global and regional security cooperation to tackle all forms of crimes and security crises.

He also commended Interpol’s role in facilitating international security cooperation as well as in strengthening multilateral police work.
