Rabat – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced its Team of the Tournament for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.
Four Moroccan players were included in the Best XI, which highlights CAF’s pick of the best performers of the cup.
The Moroccan players selected are goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, defenders Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui, and forward Brahim Diaz.
Unsurprisingly for Moroccan fans, Bounou was named goalkeeper of the tournament. The Moroccan goalkeeper delivered a series of crucial saves and helped his team in difficult moments, showing great consistency throughout the competition.
Hakimi once again proved why he is considered one of Africa’s best right-backs. The star player did not join the team from the beginning due to injury, but when he did, he combined solid defending with attacking runs, creating chances and supporting Morocco’s play on the wings.
Noussair Mazraoui also impressed with his tactical discipline and versatility, as he helped protect the team’s goal and block shots from opponents.
Meanwhile, Diaz had an outstanding tournament. The Moroccan international finished as the top scorer of AFCON 2025, as he played a key role in Morocco’s attacking success and helped the team reach the final. He became the first player in AFCON history to score in each of his first five matches in a single tournament.
His goals, movement, and creativity made him one of the most dangerous players in the competition and secured his place among the tournament’s best forwards.
Alongside the Moroccan players, CAF’s Best XI also featured stars from Senegal and Nigeria, including Victor Osimhen, Sadio Mané, and Ademola Lookman, Moussa Niakhaté, Pape Gueye, Calvin Bassey, and Idrissa Gueye.
