Rabat – The Embassy of Japan in Morocco hosted a cultural conference in Rabat to showcase how Japanese culture connects with people worldwide through manga, literature, and cuisine.
The event took place today at the embassy in the Souissi district under the title “Manga, Japanese Literature, and Cuisine That Transcend the Language Barrier.” It was part of the embassy’s cultural outreach program and was held in French.
The conference featured Ryoko Sekiguchi, a Japanese writer, poet, and translator based in Paris.
Sekiguchi, who works in both French and Japanese, spoke about how Japanese culture communicates emotions and ideas that go beyond words. She explained that manga, literature, and food can be understood across cultures and help build dialogue between societies.
She also noted that Japanese culture has found audiences not only in Europe and the West but in many regions worldwide, showing its universal appeal. These cultural forms, she said, often serve as entry points for deeper understanding between people.
The event began with remarks from Masahiro Nakata, Japan’s ambassador to Morocco, who pointed out the importance of cultural exchange between Japan and Morocco.
Organized by the embassy’s Cultural, Communication, and Press Service, the conference was free of charge, with advance registration required to reserve a seat.
Through events like this, the Embassy of Japan promotes cultural exchange as a key element of Japanese-Moroccan relations, showing how culture can bridge languages and bring people closer together.
