Casablanca – The administration of El Jadida 2 local prison has denied allegations circulating on social media regarding the situation of inmate (S.A.), particularly claims suggesting that news about her had been cut off and that she was suffering from several chronic illnesses linked to previous hunger strikes.
In a clarification statement, prison officials said the inmate is allowed to use the facility’s landline phone to contact her family three times a week for no less than 15 minutes per call, under the same conditions applied to all other female inmates.
The statement added that following a family visit on April 1, 2026, the inmate attempted to reach her relatives by phone later that same day, but the line was reportedly out of coverage.
A similar issue occurred again on April 3. The administration noted, however, that other inmates use the same phone normally and without any reported difficulties.
According to the prison administration, on April 6, the inmate declined to make use of her scheduled phone call with her family and did not provide any explanation for the refusal.
Addressing the inmate’s health, the statement stressed that she does not suffer from any chronic illness and continues to receive medical attention whenever needed. It also said she has never engaged in a hunger strike and has been receiving her meals regularly and without interruption.
