Rabat – Ecuador has reportedly scheduled two high-level friendly games, including against Morocco, in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
According to Radio Sonorama, the Ecuadorian team will face Morocco in Madrid in a friendly match.
Ecuadorian media said the match will take place in March.
“These tests were planned to maintain a demanding schedule and allow the coaching staff to analyze the team’s performance against high-level rivals,” Ecuador 221 reported.
Morocco is ranked 11th in the FIFA Ranking.
The recent World Cup 2026 draw has put Morocco in Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.
Head coach Walid Regarui said on Friday that he respects all opponents and will give everything to “be up to the task” to make Moroccans proud.
He called Brazil “one of the favorite teams,” stressing that Morocco is ready for the battle.
“Morocco will challenge one of the favorites, but they will also be playing against one of the favorites.”
For him, Haiti remains unknown to the Atlas Lions, insisting on the importance of respecting all teams in the competition.
Morocco made a historic run in the World Cup Qatar, where it reached the semi-finals.
The achievement made Morocco the first Arab and African team to reach the semi-finals.
“Today, everyone respects Morocco; everyone knows the kingdom can win the World Cup,” Regragi said.
