Rabat – The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has deployed two mobile bakery units to support residents of Ksar El Kebir after rising waters from the Loukkos River flooded several neighborhoods.

The units, operating in coordination with local authorities, are producing thousands of loaves daily to ensure food supply during the ongoing weather emergency.

Divisional Commissioner Mohamed Ait Soudane told Moroccan news agency that the two units produce the equivalent of 6,000 loaves of bread per day. The production capacity could increase to up to 10,000 units, depending on the needs of the population in Ksar El Kebir.

Evacuation efforts in the city are also continuing at a rapid pace in anticipation of expected weather disturbances in the coming days. The evacuation comes in response to concerns that heavy rainfall could lead to rising water levels in the Loukkos River and the flooding of several neighborhoods.

Local authorities have been relocating residents of at-risk neighborhoods and those currently housed in temporary shelters to several safer cities, particularly within the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.

Authorities in the province of Larache have stressed that the ongoing evacuation of shelter centers in Ksar El Kebir is part of precautionary and organizational measures aimed at protecting residents amid evolving hydrological risks.

The process is being carried out gradually and in a controlled manner, officials noted, explaining that it includes continuous assessments of water levels and potential threats to ensure citizens’ safety and enable proactive intervention.

A new weather alert forecasts that strong rainfall between 100 and 150 millimeters could affect the provinces of Chefchaoeun and Tetouan.

Heavy rainfall ranging from 60 to 100 milimeters are also expected in Ouezzane and Larache.

Morocco has adopted remote education in several regions, where schools were closed as part of recommendations from authorities due to the severe weather.

The Education Ministry announced the launch of the TelmidTICE digital distance learning to ensure the continuity of classes in affected regions.
