Chelsea Fire Manager Liam Rosenior Following Series of Defeats

Rabat – Chelsea Football Club has sacked manager Liam Rosenior after just three months and nine days in charge following five defeats in a row in the Premier League.

The club’s management made the decision after 3-0 defeat to Brighton to end coach Rosenior‘s contract. The Blues are currently reeling from a series of out of form performances, with the team having gone five games in a row without scoring, something that hasn’t happened at the club since 1912.

The 41- year- old coach had a wonderful beginning in January. He managed to win his first four Premier League matches and qualified his team for the last 16 round of the Champions League. After that, he hit a great fall, winning only once in a total of eight games.

The assistant coach, Calum McFarlane, will take charge for the remainder of the season. His temporary tenure will start off with an important FA Cup semi-final clash against Leeds United at Wembley Stadium.

Chelsea believe that the team’s performances under Rosenior did not live up to expectations.

“This has not been an easy decision for the club to make… but it is clear that recent results and performances have not reached the standard required.”

Rosenior has taken responsibility for his failure to turn things around at Chelsea. After his Chelsea’s against Brighton where fans shouted for his departure, he said in his post-match press conference: “the buck stops with me.“

He left French club Strasbourg to take the Chelsea job in the middle of the season, replacing Enzo Maresca after the Italian fell out with the West London club.. Rosenior’s stint on the Chelsea bench has been marked by inconsistent performances and heavy losses.

In March, his team suffered a 5-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Since then, the club has not won a point in any game. Their last victory came against Aston Villa on March 4.
