Fez — The British-Moroccan Society marked its 50th anniversary with a gala dinner held on Monday at the Hyatt Hotel in Casablanca, bringing together guests for an evening of celebration and fundraising.

The event formed part of the Society’s anniversary program and followed a previous edition that organizers described as highly successful. This year’s gala continued that momentum, combining a formal dinner with a charitable focus aimed at supporting education projects in Morocco’s Atlas region.

Alex Pinfield OBE, British Ambassador to Morocco, was present as guest of honour, joining attendees for the milestone occasion. His presence reflected the long-standing ties between the United Kingdom and Morocco that the Society has sought to strengthen since its founding.

    Celebrating five decades of engagement

Established in 1976, the British-Moroccan Society was created to promote dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding between the two countries. Over the past five decades, it has served as a platform for cultural, economic, and social exchange, bringing together individuals from diplomatic, business, academic, and cultural backgrounds.

The 50th anniversary gala in Casablanca highlighted that legacy, offering an opportunity for long-time members and new supporters alike to reflect on the Society’s history and its continued relevance.

Fundraising for education in the Atlas

Beyond the celebratory aspect, the evening was dedicated to fundraising for education in the Atlas Mountains. Funds raised through ticket sales were earmarked to support educational initiatives in the region, aligning the anniversary with a concrete social objective.

By linking its milestone celebration to charitable action, the Society emphasized its commitment to practical engagement and long-term impact alongside its networking and cultural activities.

The Casablanca gala closed as both a symbolic and purposeful moment, marking 50 years of the British-Moroccan Society while reinforcing its stated focus on education and community support in Morocco.
