Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will undergo surgery Friday, according to reports.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Burrow will have the procedure at Birmingham’s Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center, swelling permitting.

Burrow, now on injured reserve for the Bengals, suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury during the Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor recently refused to rule out Burrow returning this season after initial reports put his recovery timetable as a best-case scenario of three months. Hitting that window would mean a possible return in mid-December.

Burrow is eligible to return from injured reserve this year. In the meantime, the Bengals will start Jake Browning and signed two quarterbacks as depth earlier this week.
