Barcelona Remains Untouchable With 3-0 Defeat of Real Madrid

Rabat – Pere Romeu secured an easy win against Real Madrid in the Clásico, taking a huge step toward winning their seventh consecutive Liga F while once again confirming their dominance.

The clash was one-sided, with possession reaching up to 76%. Ona Batlle opened the scoring, and Putellas followed in the 51st minute. This goal was especially important, as it marked Barcelona’s 100th goal in the Clásico, with Alexia Putellas crowning herself in the process as the greatest goalscorer in the history of women’s El Clásico. The closing goal was a devastating own goal that further confirmed the huge gap between the two sides.

The encounter is not the first this season. Madrid and Barcelona had already met in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, where the Blaugrana scored six goals, with a home match next Thursday still to come at Spotify Camp Nou.

“We had a lot of chances, Misa made a lot of saves and we could have scored more goals. Thursday will be a different match again for the simple fact that they will try to come back into the tie or at least get back into it,” said Pere Romeu. “If they come looking for us, which so far is something they have not done, we will be prepared to overcome that pressure.,”

With Barcelona’s latest thumping defeat of their archrivals, it would take a miracle for Real Madrid to complete a comeback.

The coming days will show if Barcelona will continue to lead Spanish women’s football, or if Real Madrid will become a worthy rival.
