Agadir – Bank of Africa (BOA) and the Morocco Fintech Center (MFC) have signed a partnership agreement aimed at strengthening the Moroccan fintech ecosystem and positioning the country as a regional hub for financial innovation.

Signed on the sidelines of GITEX AFRICA 2026, the agreement aims to foster synergies between regulators, fintech companies, and financial institutions, and encourage financial innovation through collaborative initiatives and the exchange of expertise.

Speaking on the occasion, the general director of Bank for Africa Khalid Nasr said that this partnership aims to accelerate the emergence of national fintechs that can expand at both the continental and international levels.

Nasr pointed out that alongside the MFC, Bank of Africa is committed to providing fintechs with real conditions to help them accelerate, test, and validate their business models.

This step is important for the fintech ecosystem by facilitating exchanges, improving access, and enabling the creation of stable and sustainable partnerships across the entire ecosystem, he noted.

The general director of the Morocco Fintech Center Mustapha Lahlali also welcomed the partnership as an impact-driven and forward-looking bet on the future.

For him, the “objective behind this agreement is simply to bring to life the shared ambition of both Morocco Fintech Center and Bank of Africa, which is also one of the fifteen founding members of the Morocco Fintech Center, through the implementation of a number of initiatives that will enable our fintechs to progress smoothly in their journey.”

Lahlali added that these initiatives include providing access to testing environments, promoting use cases, and offering industry expertise.

“There is clear willingness, strong ambition, and above all a shared vision, one that aligns perfectly with our own vision and strategy at the Morocco Fintech Center, as a guide for fintechs, an accelerator of the ecosystem, and a unifier of all stakeholders working to advance Moroccan fintech,” he concluded.
