RABAT—AS FAR tightened its grip on a spot in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals with a narrow 1–0 victory over Tanzania’s Young Africans SC in Group B on Saturday night at the Stade Olympique in Rabat.
In a match that remained deadlocked for most of the evening, Anas Bach broke the stalemate with a decisive strike in the 85th minute, sending the home fans into a celebration and securing a valuable three points for the Moroccan side.
AS FAR dominated possession for much of the contest and created the better scoring opportunities, but it took a late breakthrough to finally separate the two teams in what was a tightly contested Group B fixture.

The win lifts AS FAR to eight points from five matches, placing them second in the group behind Egyptian giants Al Ahly on nine points, while Young Africans sit third with five points. Only the top two teams in each group advance to the quarter-finals, putting AS FAR on the brink of progression with one match remaining.
AS FAR will travel to Cairo on 15 February to face Al Ahly in the final group stage fixture, knowing that a single point will likely be enough to secure a spot in the last eight if results go their way.
The win was also a sweet redemption for AS FAR after falling 1–0 to Young Africans in their earlier meeting in Tanzania and keeps their hopes alive as they chase a return to the latter stages of Africa’s premier club competition.
