Guess what? Drinking alcohol is not illegal in Morocco! HOORAY! So, some of the best bars in Marrakech will actually serve epic, alcohol-infused cocktails that you can enjoy while looking out at iconic landmarks like Koutoubia Mosque.
Are there as many bars in Marrakech as there are in NYC? Nope, not a chance. But, there are plenty of bars in Marrakech that serve alcohol.
Some of them even have a fun, speakeasy vibe and feature exciting drinks crafted by internationally renowned mixologists. Other bars in the Marrakech Medina sit on quiet rooftops and offer sweeping views of the Red City.
And then there are others that totally suck and that you should absolutely NOT go to. Trust me on this. I have lived in Morocco since January of 2023 and have been to Marrakech many times.
I live around 3 hours away from the city, by bus, and visit every chance I get since there is always something fun going on in Marrakech.
I am also very much a foreigner. So, I have zero problem with sipping on an alcoholic beverage while I sit at a local bar and watch the sunset.
So, if you want to know all about the best places to grab a drink in Marrakech then stick around. I’ll share my local tips and tell you what to order at a local Marrakech bar.
This way you’ll know exactly where to go to find the best nightlife in Marrakech during your next trip to this incredible city.

The Medina
1. La Pergola

Part rooftop bar and part chic jazz club, La Pergola is one of the best bars in the Marrakech Medina if you love listening to live music.
See, this nightlife hot spot is currently managed by Riad Monceau and is a great place to go if you want to hear live jazz performed by Black Experience.
The show kicks off at 8:00 pm and wraps up around 11:00 pm. Just be sure to grab a table on the roof since the decor makes you feel like you’re attending the most epic garden party ever.
That being said, I wouldn’t come here to watch the sunset since views can be somewhat limited.
However, the verdant setting and cozy seating options make this an ideal place to sip on specialty cocktails like Love in the Orange Grove, the Morocco Mule, and the Berber Mojito.
The last time we were here I got a little hungry and ordered the Black Burger. It was pretty tasty and I loved eating it beneath a sea of colorful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling.
It’s also easy to visit since it’s near some of the best riads in Marrakech with a pool.
2. Cafe Arabe

Easily one of the best rooftop restaurants in Marrakech, Cafe Arabe is a unique place where you can order a wide array of Moroccan and Italian food while sipping on cocktails and watching the sunset over the Medina.
Is the food here my fave? No, not really. I just come here for drinks, to take photos of the stunning Bohemian decor, and to enjoy sweet panoramas of the Medina.
It’s also well-located near Le Jardin Secret, making it a quick and easy pit stop during your 3 day Marrakech itinerary.
This place can get crowded. So, if you hate people then stop by for breakfast in Marrakech. Otherwise, grab a table on their rooftop terrace and sip on a Cosmopolitan or Daiquiri fraise. Both are refreshing and quite lovely.
3. Kosybar

Is this the best bar in Marrakech? Probably not. But, I still love this place for a couple of reasons. First of all, it’s well located near the Kasbah.
So, it doesn’t get AS packed as some of the other spots that are closer to the Medina. Don’t worry, you’ll still find plenty of people here. But, they have good coffee and I like to stop by in the morning to avoid the crowds.
Secondly, they have a mega spacious rooftop that is spread out across three levels. It’s a great place to come at sunset to take in panoramic views of Place des Ferblantiers.
Thirdly, they have amazing decor that makes it feel like a boutique hotel where rooms cost $1000 per night. However, once you step inside the staff will make you feel warm and welcome.
There’s also no dress code. So, this bar is super approachable and you can wear whatever you want.
In terms of food and drinks, the espresso martini is good but strong. I also visited with friends who loved the burrata pizza. However, I didn’t try it myself.
Otherwise, stop by another spot since this neighborhood in Marrakech is full of cool places to eat and drink. This is also one of the best places to spend New Year in Marrakech.
FYI, it’s also a great spot for coworking in Marrakech if you drop by during the day.
4. El Fenn Rooftop Bar

This fancy smancy rooftop bar sits atop one of the most luxurious boutique hotels in North Africa. It is also one of the coolest bars in Marrakech since it comes with cabana beds that sit around an on-site pool.
Sadly, the pool is for hotel guests only. But, this is still a supremely posh place to spend some hard-earned cash on my fave drink, the El Fenn Margarita.
It costs 160 Dirhams ($16.00) but is worth it since it is delicious. Just chill on the grog red patio furniture and admire the vibrant green tile floors.
You can also enjoy sweeping views of the Koutoubia Mosque and the Atlas Mountains while you watch the sunset.
Then, when you start feeling a bit hungry, grab some fun snacks since the popcorn chicken, cauliflower tacos, and calamari are all pretty good.
5. Kabana

I know Kabana rooftop isn’t IN the Medina. It sits right across the street from Koutoubia Mosque and is one of the best rooftop bars in Marrakech, which is why I am adding it here.
TBH, the greenery around the rooftop kind of obscures the views of the mosque. But, that’s okay since they serve one of the best brunches in Marrakech.
Yes, the menu is a bit small and you have to use a QR code to access it. But, the food is awesome. Plus, brunch is served daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
I mean, there are not too many places to get breakfast in Marrakech at 5:00 pm.
Anyway, I ordered the Shakshuka with spinach, avocado, and harissa. It came in a giant skillet and was made using three eggs. It was supremely filling and I loved that I got a small basket of bread too.
I gobbled it all up and was super satisfied with my dish. So, I would come back since entrees were just 140 Dirhams ($14.00) and my partner also loved his Tiramisu French toast.
There are tons of plant-based foods which makes this a fun vegetarian restaurant in Marrakech. But, if you ask my partner it’s one of the best restaurants in Marrakech period.
I also just loved hanging out here since the decor is amazing and creates this tropical beach bar vibe with tons of shaded tables and cushy lounge seats for you to hang out on.
Alternatively, stop by for a drink in the early evening and order the special Long Island ice tea if you think you can handle it. It’s strong but delish.
6. MK Rooftop Marrakech

Maison MK is a stylish rooftop lounge in the Medina with unparalleled views of Koutoubia Mosque.
Perched on top of a luxurious hotel, it features a generous, multi-level rooftop that combines stylish dining areas with cozy lounge seating around a chic bar.
Food here places an emphasis on French, Moroccan, and Mediterranean flavors, with a selection of tapas and sophisticated entrees that everyone will love.
During my last visit, I indulged in the hummus and eggplant caviar, both of which were delightful. However, they were a bit expensive since tapas are around 55 Dirhams ($5.50) each.
The drinks menu was also impressive. I ordered the Porn Star Martini. It was made with vanilla vodka, cost 150 Dirhams ($15.00), and was really lovely.
Yes, the service can be slow, the prices are high, and this place can be packed with people. But, I still like hanging out here and suggest you stop by at 5:00 pm since it will be a bit less crowded.
Also, a shoutout to Hakim who made our last visit extra special.
Gueliz
7. Cafe du Livre

This trendy bar and cafe in Marrakech is one of my fave places to go since it’s a bar, restaurant, library, and bookstore all rolled into one.
I mean, where else can you chill with a drink among shelves filled with second-hand books? Nowhere, that’s where! They even have tons of fun boardgames for you to try.
So, even if you’re not into drinking in Marrakech and partying the night away, it’s still a great place to hang out.
It’s also a great place to go if you want a bit of pub grub since the wings and Rock and Roll Burger are both pretty good. It’s also rad that you can find beers here for as little as 25 Dirham ($2.50).
If you have the time, drop in on Mondays for trivia night, Fridays/Saturdays for live music, and Saturdays for Karaoke. They also have a popular happy hour on weekdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
You can also stop by an epic vegan restaurant in Marrakech since a ton are nearby.
8. Barometre
This crazy cool bar in Marrakech is a cross between a speakeasy and a science lab. But, it works since you’ll find an array of creative cocktails in a basement-level bar where staff focus on the fine art of mixology.
Just be on the lookout for the front door, which is tucked away on a random street. If you manage to find the place, you’ll be super impressed.
See, I like that this bar has a super innovative cocktail menu. The staff are also very passionate and knowledgeable. Therefore, they know what to suggest and can customize drinks to suit your tastes.
I like to come here and order the Jimmy Hendricks since it is this perfect combination of gin and basil. Yup, I was 100% blown away the last time I was here.
Local Tip: Afterward, hit up some of the best vegetarian restaurants in Marrakech since they are well-located nearby.
9. Le Grand Café de la Poste

As one of the few restaurants in Marrakech that serves alcohol, Le Grand Cafe de la Poste is a great place to go for a drink if you like to relax amidst luxurious decor.
So, step inside to enjoy an exquisite grand staircase, elegant black and white tiled floors, authentic Berber carpets, towering ceilings, enchanting fireplaces, lush greenery, crimson velvet sofas, and traditional Moroccan lanterns.
Next, head to the bar for a daily happy hour from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Enjoy a glass of Rose and some spiced olives as you take in the elegant grandeur all around you.
Don’t forget to dress up since they have a “smart” dress code here. However, I showed up in sweatpants so clearly it’s not strictly enforced.
If you can’t stop by for happy hour then order the frozen mojito since it is delish. The food here is also nice. I liked the octopus stew and mashed potatoes the last time I was here.
You just won’t really find any Moroccan cuisine here since this is more of a French restaurant/bar. The tea is also not good so don’t order the mint tea.
10. The Bar at Royal Mansour

Just in case you’re not in the know, the Royal Mansour is a beyond epic 5-star hotel in Marrakech where next-level rich people stay. Yeah, rooms here are like $2,000+ per night.
Needless to say, I have never spent the night here. However, I do like to come to their bar on occasion. It’s pretty expensive but is nice if you’re looking for a bit of opulence and exquisite cocktails.
Just head to an amazing marble bar that is surrounded by mirrored walls with pink, gold leaf. Add in a silver ceiling that sparkles to life with subdued lighting and you have an epic place to hang out.
If you can, try to visit around Christmas time since the decorations are amazing. The last time I stoped by I ordered a Manhattan and it was awesome.
Also, see if you can get a tour of the grounds. This hotel was built by the king so it is stunning and has a unique history, not that it’s super old or anything.
Local Tip: If you’re looking for more charming and cozy surroundings then head to the Chimney Lounge and listen to live piano music/singers. The afternoon tea is also nice but I thought “The Moroccan” was too sweet.
It’s also a great place to celebrate Christmas in Marrakech or Christmas in Morocco since the hotel has lots of seasonal decorations.
11. Pointbar Marrakech

Unlike many other Marrakech bars, Pointbar has a relaxed vibe about it. Therefore, don’t feel like you need to get all dressed up if you want to visit this spot.
Instead, come as you are and step inside a modest gray doorway that leads to a long bar, hidden behind bamboo.
The space then opens up to a spacious patio area outfitted with a vibrant red carpet, plush, low sofas, and pouffes.
During the summer months (not the best time to go to Marrakech), the retractable roof opens up and allows you to enjoy a cool drink while gazing up at the stars.
While the venue is best known as a wine bar, they do offer an assortment of beers and cocktails as well as a ton of different international dishes.
We stopped by recently and ordered the Pill Pill prawns and the Thai Beef. Both were lovely and I highly recommend each dish. The service was also great and the prices were high but not over the top.
I paired my meal with the Kiwi Crusher cocktail and it was super refreshing.
Plus, if you love a party atmosphere, stop by during the weekend in Marrakech. This is when the bar is filled with live DJs, Moroccan music, and crowds eager to watch football matches.
Local Tip: Stop by for happy hour between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm and pay just 70 Dirhams ($7.00) for select cocktails like the Kiwi Crusher.
12. L’Envers

This is one of those fun bars in Marrakech where you can see up-and-coming Moroccan DJs laying down electronic beats on the mezzanine.
It’s a pretty new, slightly narrow bar with a Hispter ambiance that is enhanced by fun accents like Edison bulbs. You’ll also find minimalist walls adorned with local street art and Arabic calligraphy.
What I love is that the drink list is HUGE and AFFORDABLE. So, I can visit more regularly than I would other bars on this list.
I am a fan of the Cafe Lover cocktail with vodka, Kahlua, coffee, Baileys, and cinnamon.
The last time I was here I ordered it and it tasted like a smooth, delicious adult coffee. It also cost 110 Dirhams ($11.00) which is very reasonable for Marrakech.
They tapas were also pretty good and I enjoyed the tomato, mozzarella, and basil tartine.
The music does get loud though and the space is pretty small. So, if you’re not into crowds and loud music then give this place a pass, unless you come early.
Local Tip: This place has live DJs playing four nights a week. So, be sure to stop by if you want to dance the night away. There isn’t really a dance floor though so dancing can be tricky.
However, you can always visit some Marrakech clubs instead. They also have a solid happy hour from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm where you can get cocktails for like 60 Dirhams ($6.00).
13. Le Palace
Situated beneath the Le Palace restaurant, this unique bar in Marrakech feels a lot like a 1920s speakeasy with muted lighting and mahogany walls adorned with Victorian-style chandeliers.
As a result, this is the perfect spot to sip on sophisticated cocktails as part of a fun date night in Marrakech.
Typically I don’t eat here at the French restaurant upstairs since it is a bit expensive. However, feel free to splurge on a gourmet meal of foie gras and tiger prawns before heading to the bar.
FYI, I have friends who ate at the restaurant and they said it was not very good. They had to use a QR code for the menu and thought it was weird that a French restaurant had japanese, south American, and western cuisine.
Anyway, they said the food wasn’t great. So, I would come here for the bar. This way you can listen to live DJs, or lounge singers croon into the mic, before ordering a nice Moroccan Gris.
Just don’t show up in your sweatpants and know what to wear in Marrakech and how to dress in Morocco in the evening since the dress code here is fancy with a capital “F”.
Also, be sure to take lots of photos since this is THAT kind of place.
14. Nobu

Nobu is one of those places that feels like an experience from the moment you walk through the door.
Tucked away inside the Nobu Hotel, the real star here is the rooftop bar. It’s sleek, stylish, and buzzing with energy. Plus, the views over the city are especially magical once the sun goes down and Marrakech begins to light up in the evening.
There’s always a DJ, the crowd is lively, and it has that international, “night-out-in-a-global-city” vibe that easily makes it one of the best rooftops in town.
When it comes to what to order, I’d honestly skip the food and focus on the drinks. The cocktails are beautifully done since they have Japanese-inspired flavors that come with a cool modern twist.
A classic Nobu martini or one of their signature cocktails is the way to go, and the wine and champagne list is solid if you’re celebrating a special occasion.
All in all, it’s a great place to relax, mingle, and people-watch rather than sit down for a full meal.
Reservations are a must, though, since this place is not a hidden gem. Yeah, this rooftop gets packed, especially on weekends and around sunset. So, walking in off the street is a big-time gamble.
There is also a dress code, so come looking polished. However, the last time I was there it wasn’t strictly enforced since I showed up in sweatpants and they still let me upstairs.
Still, dressing up fits the vibe and makes the night feel more like an event than just another night out on the town.
15. M Rooftop by Medina Heritage

M Rooftop by Medina Heritage is one of those places that reminds you why Marrakech rooftops are so special.
Tucked away inside the medina, this rooftop feels calm and stylish without trying too hard. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the views are genuinely stunning.
When you’re here, you get to look out over the rooftops of the old city and can see Koutoubia Mosque in the distance. Then, around sunset, the entire city takes on this incredible golden hue.
As someone who’s lived in Marrakech, this is exactly the kind of spot I take visitors when I want them to experience the beauty of Marrakech but just without all the chaos.
It’s important to know that this is a DRY rooftop. So, there’s no alcohol here. But, honestly, you don’t miss it.
The non-alcoholic drinks are excellent. So, be sure to order one of their mocktails, especially anything with fresh citrus, mint, or ginger.
They also do great fresh juices and Moroccan-style lemonades that feel incredibly refreshing after wandering around the souks all day long. Pair that with a comfy seat and you have the perfect sunset spot.
The vibe is also relaxed, polished, and very Marrakech. Therefore, it is perfect for a slow afternoon or an early evening wind-down.
