Moises Caicedo missed Ecuador’s goalless draw against Paraguay in World Cup qualifying on Thursday due to “physical discomfort.”
The 23-year-old started all 38 of Chelsea’s Premier League games last season, and has started the first three of the new campaign.
Like many of his team-mates Caicedo was called up for international duty, with Ecuador facing World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Argentina.
Like for Chelsea Caicedo also plays a key role for Ecuador, but a worrying update occurred before the Paraguay game in regard to the midfielder’s fitness.

Journalist María José Flores shared this update as quoted by X.com:
“Moisés Caicedo will not be considered for a starting role against Paraguay due to physical discomfort.
“However, he is expected to be back for the Argentina game on the 10th of September.”
Chelsea will hope it’s nothing major for Caicedo and more of a precaution then anything else, but it will be a concern nonetheless.
Whilst Caicedo didn’t feature for his national side, Marc Cucurella and Estevao Willian were both in action for Spain and Brazil respectively.
The duo both found the back of the net, with Cucurella scoring the second goal in Spain’s 3-0 win against Bulgaria.

Brazil also won 3-0 against Chile, with Estevao named man of the match after he scored his first goal for the Selecao.
The teenager has taken his great start to the season onto the international stage, and it appears Chelsea have a potential superstar on their hands.
