Knicks a possible new home for former Sixers star Ben Simmons

Former Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons is not the All-NBA player he once was, but he can still be a helpful player. Back injuries have robbed him of his athletic ability and he is not the same player he was while helping the Sixers morph into contenders.

Simmons started the 2024-25 season with the Brooklyn Nets before being bought out and then signing with the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists across 51 games for Brooklyn and LA and is now looking for his next NBA home.

Per Jake Fischer via Marc Stein’s Substack, the New York Knicks are a potential new home for Simmons in free agency as the Knicks have a roster spot open:

The Knicks, meanwhile, have three open roster spaces and have been mentioned as a possible home for Ben Simmons or Brogdon as well as Landry Shamet.

Simmons could give the Knicks a lot of versatility and a defensive presence against some of the bigger players in the league. When considering how wide-open the East is, the former Sixers star could help the Knicks get over the hump in the upcoming season.
